Date Bread with Orange & Walnuts

2 eggs
3/4 cup orange juice
4 tablespoons melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla

1 3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup sugar

1 cup chopped dates
3/4 cup chopped walnuts

Beat together first 4 ingredients until blended. Add the dry ingredients all at once and stir until they are just moistened. Stir in the dates and nuts. Pour mixture into an 8x4x3-inch pan that has been greased and floured.

Bake in a 350° oven for about 50 minutes to 1 hour or until a cake tester, inserted in center, comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes and then remove and cool bread on rack. Yields 1 loaf.
