Oven-Baked French Toast

Baking the French toast in the oven eliminates the use of any fat or oil. However, these can be prepared in a skillet, with just a wiping of oil and the toast will be a little more tender. Cook until browned on both sides.

1 egg
1/2 cup non-fat milk
4 slices whole wheat bread, cut in half

Beat together egg and milk until blended. Place bread in a 7xll-inch non-stick shallow pan and pour egg mixture over all. Allow to stand for about 5 minutes, or until egg is absorbed, turning once. Place pan in a 350-degree oven and bake for 10 minutes, turn and bake for another 3 or 4 minutes, or until puffed and golden. Serve each slice with 1 tablespoon Fresh Apple & Cinnamon Sauce or a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar. Serves 4.
