

This delicious bread will grace a brunch table with taste and style. It is lovely to look at and delicious too. It is also a treat at snack time.
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 medium apples, peeled, cored and grated
1 cup chopped walnuts
2 tablespoons finely grated orange peel
Beat butter and sugar until light and creamy. Beat in eggs and vanilla until blended. Beat in flour, soda, baking powder and cinnamon until blended. Do not overbeat. Stir in apples, walnuts and orange peel.
Spoon batter into a 10-inch tube pan and sprinkle top with Brown Sugar Cinnamon Topping. Bake in a 350° oven for 55 to 60 minutes, or until a cake tester, inserted in center, comes out clean. Serves 12.
Brown Sugar Cinnamon Topping:
3 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons melted butter
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Combine all the ingredients until blended.
