

If you are planning a backyard picnic or a barbecue, garlic breads are a perfect accompaniment to so many of the traditional alfresco dishes. There are an infinite variety of spreads so pick one that best compliments your meal.
1 loaf crusty French bread, cut in half
lengthwise
1 cup mayonnaise
2 cloves garlic, put through a press
3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
paprika
Combine mayonnaise, garlic and grated cheese and spread mixture on cut sides of French bread. Sprinkle tops with paprika. Cut slices into bread 2/3 through. Wrap each half in foil and heat in a 400° oven about 15 minutes or until heated through. Serves 6.

2 cloves garlic, put through a press
1 tablespoon minced parsley
1 teaspoon Italian herb seasoning
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
paprika
Combine oil, garlic, parsley, Italian seasoning and brush mixture on cut sides of French bread. Cut slices into bread about 2/3 through. Sprinkle top with grated cheese and paprika. Broil for a few minutes until top is lightly browned and cheese is bubbly. Serves 6.
