

Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries all produce a lovely and light refreshing dessert. A granité (sometimes called "granita" ) is basically an ice made with a simple syrup and different flavorings. Berries are especially nice.
Simple Syrup:
2 cups water
1/2 cup sugar
Fruit:
1 pint strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, (fresh or frozen)
mashed and pressed through a sieve to remove seeds
1 tablespoon lemon juice
In a saucepan, simmer together water and sugar
until sugar is dissolved. Allow to cool. Stir in fruit pulp and
lemon juice until blended. Freeze in an ice cream maker according
to manufacturer's instructions. Serves 8.
