

Some evening soon, you might enjoy serving hot apple cider instead of the usual coffee and tea. Serve it in large mugs with some pumpkin cake or pumpkin bread with creamy butter.
1 quart apple cider, unsweetened
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar (or to taste)
2 cinnamon sticks (or 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon)
4 cloves
1 orange, cut into slices. Do not peel.
1 lemon, cut into slices. Do not peel.
Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan and simmer mixture for about 10 minutes. Serve cider hot. Discard fruit. Yields 4 cups.
