This is a lovely drink on a frosty night when you're sitting around a crackling fire. Set a tray with some cookies and sit back and relax with your guests. In no time, all's well with the world.
2 cups orange juice
1 orange, remove stem and cut into thin slices, then
fourths
1 cup yellow raisins
1/2 cup black currants
1 cup chopped apricots
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
3 bottles (25 ounces, each) California Burgundy
1 bottle (25 ounces) California Port
Combine first eight ingredients in a saucepan and simmer mixture for about 20 minutes or until apricots are tender. (This can be done ahead.)
Just before serving, place all the ingredients in a large enamel pot and heat slowly, just to warm. Do not boil. Ladle into little glass mugs and serve with some apricots and raisins in each glass. Yields about 3 quarts or about 25 servings, 4 ounces, each.
Note: -Taste for sugar, you may like it sweeter.
