Did you know that according to tradition, all good things will be bestowed upon you, if you serve a whole fish at the New Year Feast. The whole fish signifies success, long life and good fortune.

This is a Sample Menu with several options. Depending on your time frame and the number of guests you are inviting, you have many dishes to choose from. The dishes all go well together so choose one, two or three as the spirit moves you.

The Pork Dumplings served with the Cucumber Salad is an excellent starter. If you can find the Chinese cucumbers, they are sweet and delicious. If you cannot, then very thinly slice salad cucumbers.

Each of the dishes have "Notes for Advance Preparation." I feel it is a popular misconception that all Chinese dishes must be prepared at the last minute. If that were the case, then no one who prepares a Chinese meal would ever be with his/her guests during a dinner party. I do believe that with good planning, and having all the ingredients and sauces ready and measured, one can execute a complicated meal without any trouble.
