At Home on Christmas Day Menu
Country French Glazed Apple Tart
- Crust:
- 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
4 ounces cream cheese (1/2 of an 8-ounce package)
1 cup flour
4 heaping tablespoons sifted powder sugar
- Filling:
- 1/2 cup apricot jam, warmed
4 apples, peeled, cored and cut in half vertically. Place cut
ends down and cut into very thin slices

- Beat together butter and cream cheese until
blended. Beat in flour and sugar just until blended. Do not overbeat.
Dough is soft. Pat dough on the bottom and 1-inch up the sides
of a greased 10-inch tart pan with a removable bottom and bake
in a 350-degree oven for 25 minutes or until crust is just beginning
to take on color.
- Paint crust with half of the apricot jam.
Fan apple slices on the top to resemble 8 petals and bake in
a 350-degree oven for 40 minutes. Paint top with remaining apricot
jam, increase temperature to 400 degree and continue baking for
10 minutes to set glaze. Serves 12.
