Pecan Bars on Cookie Crust

Cookie Crust:
1 1/2 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine (1 stick)

In the large bowl of an electric mixer, beat together all the ingredients until; mixture resembles coarse meal. Pat mixture into a lightly greased 9x13-inch pan and bake at 350° for 15 minutes, or until crust is just beginning to take on color.

Pecan Filling:
6 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla

3/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups chopped pecans

In the large bowl of an electric mixer, beat together first 4 ingredients until blended. Beat in remaining ingredients until blended. Pour mixture into prepared crust and continue baking at 350° for about 20 to 25 minutes or until top is set. Allow to cool in pan. When cool, drizzle with Vanilla Glaze. Cut into squares or bars. Yields about 40 cookies.

Vanilla Glaze:
1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar
2 tablespoons cream
1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Stir together all the ingredients until blended. Add a little sugar or cream to make glaze a loose drizzling consistency.
