While this dinner is informal, it is by no means
plain, and can be served to family and friends for some special
occasion. A birthday, anniversary or a homecoming will become
memorable with this menu.
The vegetables are safely tucked in the soup, so no wrinkled noses in that department. The little knishes are wonderful and will certainly start a tradition in your home. They are exceedingly easy to prepare and freeze beautifully. Alternatively, the Flatbread is excellent with the soup.
This menu is made up of old favorites. Roast Chicken with Cracker Stuffing, Kasha & Noodles with Mushrooms & Onions, Maple Glazed Carrots.
Desserts are wonderful. The Dark Chocolate Fudge Sour Cream Cake is one of my favorites; as are the Hungarian Apricot Walnut Bars. And who doesn't love Brownies topped with a little Buttercream? If you like your Brownies plain, omit the Buttercream and decorate with a faint sprinkle of sifted powdered sugar.
